Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal durably reduces hair by targeting it session after session. We use the Elite IQ™ laser, suited to a range of skin tones.

What this treatment targets

Unwanted facial and body hair: underarms, bikini, legs, back, etc.

How it works

The laser targets the hair's melanin to slow regrowth. The area, power and number of sessions are adapted to your skin and hair.

Duration

From a few minutes (small areas) to about an hour (large areas).

Sessions

Several spaced sessions are needed because hair is treated during its growth phase. Packages are available.

Before and after your session: the right habits

The day before your laser hair removal session, shave the area to be treated: the laser targets the hair beneath the skin, not what shows at the surface. Avoid waxing, tweezing and sun exposure in the weeks beforehand. After the session, some redness or a feeling of warmth may appear for a few hours; it generally fades on its own. Moisturize the area, protect it from the sun with sunscreen, and postpone saunas, spas, swimming pools and intense workouts for at least 48 hours. Written aftercare instructions are given to you.

Why fall and winter are the ideal season in Montreal

Laser hair removal calls for untanned skin and careful sun protection between sessions. In Montreal, fall and winter lend themselves to it naturally: skin stays covered, the sun is less intense, and it is easier to keep to the schedule. Since several sessions spaced a few weeks apart are needed, starting in the cold season means arriving at summer with a good part of the journey already behind you. That said, nothing prevents you from starting in summer, with suitable sun precautions.

Maintaining your results over time

Over the course of the sessions, regrowth becomes slower, finer and sparser. Once the series is complete, some people opt for occasional touch-up sessions, for example once or twice a year, to maintain the appearance achieved: hormonal changes or simply the passage of time can reawaken a few hairs. Between visits, shaving is still allowed; waxing and tweezing, however, should be avoided, as they remove the root the laser needs to target. Results vary from person to person and are not guaranteed.

Frequently asked questions

How many sessions for laser hair removal?

Several sessions are needed; the exact number is estimated during your consultation.

Is the laser suitable for my skin?

The Elite IQ™ laser suits a range of skin types; an assessment confirms it.

Is it painful?

The sensation is generally well tolerated and brief.

How should I prepare before a laser hair removal session?

Shave the area the day before, arrive with clean skin free of creams or self-tanner, and avoid the sun in the weeks beforehand. Detailed instructions are given to you.

Can I shave or remove hair between sessions?

Yes, you can shave at any time. However, set aside waxing, tweezing and epilators for the whole duration of the program: these methods pull the hair out at the root, leaving the laser with nothing to aim at during your next session.

What is the difference between laser hair removal and IPL?

IPL emits a broad spectrum of light, while a laser like the Elite IQ™ delivers precise wavelengths concentrated on the hair. This precision allows the treatment to be tailored to your skin type during your assessment.

How long should I wait between two sessions?

Generally a few weeks, giving new hairs time to enter their growth phase. The exact interval depends on the treated area and is recommended at your consultation.
